The menu consists of typical appetizers, entrees, and desserts that would be seen in the 1920’s. It’s supposed to be an upscale restaurant with gourmet dishes because that is what was normally served at Gatsby’s parties. Each description for the platters are descriptive using colorful vocabulary that is also used in the book. The style is similar to Fitzgerald’s and Nick’s when first entering the party on page 40 of the book. “On buffet tables, garnished with glistening hor d’ouevre, spiced baked hams crowded against salads of harlequin designs…”(pg. 40 Fitzgerald). The menu is from an elegant restaurant and is supposed to give the West Egg prestigious vibe.
