Katharine Hepburn- Choosing Katharine Hepburn for the part of Jordan Baker was because of Hepburn’s masculinity. She’s always been a woman to wear pants when it was unfit for ladies during her time. She also is a woman who speaks her mind and has her own ideas and opinions, which are very similar qualities of Ms. Baker.
Robert Redford- Redford was the original Gatsby in the 1974 movie. He was the perfect actor for the role and could fully become Gatsby’s character. He even seems like a mysterious millionaire in love with someone he cannot have anymore.
Adrian Grenier- Nick Carroway is a narrator throughout the novel and a young man who probably looks great in a suit. Adrian Grenier can look terrific in a suit and has potential to be the character people remember as the key to Daisy and Gatsby’s reunion. Adrian also has a great voice for narration, which he follows throughout the movie.
Jenna Fischer- We needed someone with a bit of flair that was also very innocent looking with a naughty secret underneath. She’s playing a woman having an affair and Jenna Fischer is a very sexy woman who can play that married-with-a-lover role. It was also a chance for her to step out of her innocent Pam on the NBC series “The Office” and show off some different acting styles.
Rainn Wilson- George Wilson and Rainn Wilson are synonymous in our minds, in that they are both quiet and can go unremembered. Rainn can play the serious role of a crazed widow seeking revenge and we think he’d be great as Gatsby’s killer.
Reese Witherspoon- Reese Witherspoon is Daisy Buchanan because she speaks with a voice that sounds like money. She’s that cute blond down home girl from the south. Witherspoon is adorable and elegant all in one package and so is Daisy. We think she’d play the perfect lead woman and the object of Gatsby’s affection.
Pierce Brosnan- Tom Buchanan needs to be played by someone who looks like old money and Pierce Brosnan has that look. He also is built and tall. He’s very masculine and can put off a sense of leadership. Brosnan is an alpha dog and could play Tom Buchanan’s character very well.
